According to Addiction Rehab, Tattoos are not stated as a legitimate addiction in the list of addictions recognized in psychiatry, however one of the reasons tattoos can feel addictive is because of the fact that the whole process of getting tattooed is very emotionally potent. Almost everyone will get a tattoo for a meaningful, emotional or personal reason. Even the process of designing the tattoo is filled with lots of emotions. 

Tattoos are a form of self-expression. Each tattoo has a significance or story behind it which is meaningful to the individual that has it; even if in some cases that meaning is as simple as “I thought it would look good”. That’s why most people do seem to end up getting more than just one tattoo! These days it is common to see Tattoos on friends, family and co-workers which has led to a lowering of inhibitions and many people now feel free to express themselves through Tattoos! And really, the world is a better place the more CREATIVE it is, isn’t it?!

Aditi got this tattoo on her forearm in memory of her Dad. After spending a lot of time brain storming, we realized Aditi's dad would always, ALWAYS carry a bunch of keys wherever he went.

The keys are a tribute to him and a short poem in the background to say how much Aditi loves her Dad.

Getting a tattoo is safe provided it is done by a professional and all hygiene protocols are met. 
We believe in using disposable equipment to avoid cross contamination. All Tattoo equipment and needles used at Iron Buzz Tattoos is individually packaged and pre-sterilized. We open these pre-sterilized needles and other equipment in front of our clients to ensure they are aware we are using fresh new equipment for their safety.

Besides using pre-sterilized needles and tubes, we cover all our equipment and furniture with a single use plastic which is changed for every tattoo. Other than that we also clean down everything with ethnol spirit after every tattoo to keep our space hygienic.

Don't be a good artist! Be a better one...

I often get questions like How i draw? OR Could you help me with some tips/suggestions on sketching. So here it is! Truly becoming a good artist takes more than just raw skill and talent. Hard work and developing an individual style are at the heart of being a good artist. The nice thing about art is that it is much easier to deal with mistakes. In life there are consequences. In art, you just cover it up.

I have long been aware how blind I get to my own work. My brain-eye coordination seems to get stale after a few hours working, and I begin to rely on intention rather than invention. Other artists tell me they have the same problem.

Find someone with a good eye who can and will tell you if your work is working. It may be painful, but if you are serious about making art you are a masochist already. There are too many artists, too many dealers, and too much art. If plumbing was as popular as art, we would have amateur plumbers running around in stained clothing, brandishing plungers and roto-rooters, climbing in and out of sewers, and writing gibberish about pipe systems. And none of our toilets would work!!

Making art is trial and error. You have to get comfortable making mistakes, because you will make mistakes. The trick is to know which ones to keep.

Below are few pointers i always have at the back of my mind when I am asked for a bit of help.

The Basics- tone, depth, and values Paper-
Paper isn't always made of wood pulp. More expensive drawing paper is made of woven fibers of cotton or linen, which holds different media better. Hot press paper is much more smooth, which allows for a lot more detail and softer rendering. Cold press paper is more rough, which is better for holding darker tones and more graphite.Paper also comes in different weights. Any paper rated 90 lbs. or higher is considered heavy paper and is more durable, withstanding heavier erasing and a more finalized drawing. Any paper under 90 lbs. is noticeably lighter, and should be used for rough drafts and sketches. Most paper is acid free, and acid free archival paper will never yellow, lasting virtually forever. I use 100 lb. paper with a vellum finish, which means that it is smooth enough to allow for small details, but is tolerant enough to handle darker tones.

Outlines-
Outlines NEVER occur naturally and should never appear in your work. Different shapes and objects are always defined by the contrast of different tones, never by a solid black outline. This reduces depth, essentially flattening your drawing. Even if the background of your drawing is white and an equally white highlight touches it, let them fade into each other.

Achieving darker values-

Paper is never smooth. It has many grooves called teeth that capture and hold the graphite as you draw. If you are drawing with an ordinary #2 pencil, you will have to press harder to get a dark tone. This flattens the teeth of the paper, leaving a shiny glare and ruining a picture. Professional Drawing Pencils come in different densities, ranging anywhere from 6H-H(hard lead), HB, and B-8B (soft lead). Hard leads will create a very very light stroke, will Softer leads will be much darker. By gently layering different pencils you will create a much deeper tone than with an ordinary pencil, reducing glare and not ruining your drawing.

Contrast and Depth-

There are countless artists that show so much potential to be great, but fail to achieve any sense of depth and realism because they limit their scale of values. Don't fall victim to this, because no matter how much detail you can create, your drawings will always look flat without contrast. This means that the darkest parts of your drawing should be as dark as you can get them without damaging paper. Confidence is key, because many times people will be afraid to go 'too dark' and ruin the picture. Don't be. As long as you have a broad scale of values you will instantly notice an improvement in your work.

Over time all Tattoo pigments somewhat break down and disperse under the skin (lighter colours are prone to fading most easily than darker colours), however this process can be greatly accelerated by exposure to UV light – that is natural sunlight and artificial tanning. We strongly advise to always wear a good sunblock on your tattoos when they are exposed to sunlight to protect your investment. 

A well delivered tattoo would take about 10-12 years to start looking faded; sometimes 6-8 years depending on how you've been taking care of your tattoo. Once your tattoo is healed, that is how it going to look for the next 6-8 years. Yes there could be pigment missing in certain areas if you haven’t followed your artist aftercare instructions, but if you are completely unhappy with your tattoo right after it is healed, then it is a question to ponder upon whether to go back to the same artist to get tattooed or not.

Although a faded or old Tattoo can be re-colored and fixed. Re-working and re-coloring that Tattoo will give it a much greater density of color and, honestly, an intense, SOLID look that simply cannot be achieved any other way.

HOW TO CONVINCE YOUR PARENTS TO LET YOU GET A TATTOO!!! :)

  It's tough being a kid, especially when you and your parents have different ideas on what is appropriate or "cool". The term "generation gap" didn't come from nowhere - it's been an issue between parents and their kids for all time. But it's an even tougher issue these days, as more demands are thrust on young people in order to fit in. Most parents realize that children need, not just want, to be accepted by their peers. Without that acceptance, their self-esteem can suffer and they may carry emotional scars for the rest of their life.
 But how far should a child or a parent be willing to go for acceptance? Do you buckle under the pressure of every passing fad? Do you drive your parents crazy, demanding one extreme after another? Long skirts, short skirts, permed hair, blue hair, penny loafers, high-tops, tight jeans, baggy jeans - trust me, parents have seen it all. And now tattoos and piercings have worked their way into the teenage genre as the latest "thing". If you're a teen interested in body art, you're no doubt getting resistance at home. So, here are some things to help you out.

Breaking the Generation Gap 

 The first thing you need to do is understand where your parents are coming from. They were raised during a time when tattoos and piercings were almost exclusively seen on criminals, gang members and bikers. These people didn't get tattooed or pierced because they appreciated the beauty of the art - they got them to look rebellious and "tough". Many tattoos were done in prison cells or seedy parlors with no thought to safety or sterility. And you are like a precious gem to them - unscathed and innocent. The last thing they want to do is allow you to be put in harm's way. I know it's difficult to understand now, but it really is out of love that they hold you back.

Effective Reasoning 

 You should know by now that wanting something just because it's "cool" is not going to fly with your parents. If you want a tattoo or piercing, you'd better be prepared to have a better reason than that for wanting it. Whether you realize it or not, this is a big decision. There are adults that spend years contemplating a tattoo or piercing, because they realize the seriousness of it. Even piercings are more permanent than they seem, because once the jewelry is removed, you'll always have a small mark or scar. This is not like choosing a new style of hair or clothing - even hair grows back. But a tattoo or piercing is something that, in one way or another, you will be stuck with for life. If you just want one now because it's cool, that's not going to sustain you when you're old.

Choose Your Battles Wisely

  You should also be aware of the fact that in some states, minors can't get tattoos or piercings, even if they have parental consent. Find out what the laws are - it would be a waste of time to try to fight it out with your parents only to have the studio turn you away. If you happen to live in one of these areas, you're just going to have to accept the fact that you have to wait until you're of age. Going behind your parents' backs and letting some shady individual tattoo or pierce you will only hurt any future attempts to win your parents over.

Help Your Parents Understand Prejudice is based on a lack of proper information. Your parents may be very surprised that tattoo and piercing studios, these days, are cleaner than your average doctor's office. They may not realize that most artists are trained extensively on safe handling and disposal of equipment, or that everything is meticulously sterilized. And they're probably never going to know these things without your help. Do research on the procedure you're wanting done. Present your parents with an essay or information based on solid facts. Show them that you understand their concerns, and attempt to do what it takes to allay their fears. Ask them if they would be willing to take you around to some of the local studios, just to look. And if they do, don't start begging once you get them in the door, or you will lose all credibility. Remain calm, look around and let your parents see for themselves. Then when you get home, you can discuss it.

The Value of Waiting

  If you've tried everything you could and your parents are still dead set against you getting tattooed or pierced, let it go. Before long, you'll be old enough to make your own decisions and can do what you want. Getting a hole or picture poked in you is not a good reason to risk losing your parent's respect. If you can calmly accept "no" as an answer, you never know - your parents may even gain a new respect for you and eventually change their decision. But even if they don't, you have your whole life ahead of you. Concentrate on the really important things in life like getting a good education and becoming a responsible adult. Use the time to plan out exactly what you want to do with your life, and show your parents you truly are growing up. Even if they don't really want you to.

Now we would be lying to you if we said it didn’t. Of course getting a tattoo hurts!
What you really want to know is HOW MUCH does it hurt. Well every person has a different threshold of dealing with pain. We have seen muscular men fall to their faces and on the other hand seen tiny women sit like a rock for hours together. Also, the amount of pain involved can vary greatly depending on the part of the body that is being tattooed. Generally, the places that hurt more include those parts of the body with a high concentration of nerve endings (hands, feet), softer sensitive areas like inner thigh or inner arm, areas right over a bone like the ankle or the top of the foot.
